Great North Run – the final countdown

24th August 2011:

Just over 3 weeks to go until GNR Day (18 September) and it’s all going well (touch wood).  My training, which was interrupted in June due to my mother’s stay in hospital, is now back on track and I have even managed to do my “last long run” before the big day.

This last long run thing always preys on my mind.  Once it’s done, it’s done.  I can draw a line under it and start to concentrate on my interval training, pilates and swimming, knowing that I’ve proved I can do the distance.  It’s the same when I’m training for the Moonwalk – although without the interval training, of course.

So between the gym, the pilates, the swimming and the running – it’s all going well!

And did I mention the pushing my mam about in her wheelchair?  She worries that it’s too much for me but in fact it’s great exercise.  We go for nice walks down to the Royal Quays Marina – downhill on the way there but very much uphill all the way back!
